Course Report

All 18 holes at South Cape Owners Club have uninterrupted sea views, a rare feature even among the world’s best coastal golf courses.

About

South Cape Owners Club, designed by renowned architect Kyle Phillips, is a clifftop resort layout on Namhae Island offering panoramic sea views from every hole. The course blends links-style influences with dramatic Korean coastal scenery. Established in 2013 by Jae Bong Chung, the 18 holes wind through granite outcrops and lush bluegrass fairways, demanding both strategy and creativity. Luxurious facilities and accommodations complete an unforgettable golf experience.

Caddie Tip

Trust your caddie's local wind knowledge, especially on the dramatically exposed par 3s. Shots can play shorter due to the updraft from the ocean. When fairways are firm, stay below the hole and avoid aggressive approaches where the granite and cliffs threaten. Play conservatively into wind and be wary of dramatic green undulations, particularly on the back nine.

The Main Challenge

The real challenge is shot selection and execution on cliffside holes where ocean winds and visual intimidation test confidence and distance control. Errant shots are often punished by unplayable lies or the sea itself. Sloping, undulating greens demand touch on approaches and nerve on putts, especially with the dramatic surrounds.

The Good

Golfers are universally awed by the views from every hole, claiming the combination of oceanside drama, tranquil mountain surroundings, and cliffside routing is among the most stunning in the world. The design provides unforgettable moments and thrilling shot values, making it a true global golf destination.

The Not So Good

Accessibility can be challenging: South Cape’s remote island location requires a flight and lengthy transfer. Some guests comment on high greens fees, expected given the world-class setting, and a few note the heavy reliance on cart paths and paced caddie play can slightly hinder the walkable, links-like experience that the course aesthetic suggests.

Signature Hole:

#

16

No items found.

The signature 16th hole is a par 3 playing across a dramatic ocean cove with the green framed by sweeping sea views and rocky cliffs. At 204 meters from the back tee, swirling winds, an all-carry tee shot, and the visual intimidation of the water below combine for one of the most memorable one-shot holes on earth.

Clubhouse

No items found.

The ultra-modern clubhouse offers fine dining, ocean-view lounges, top-shelf locker rooms, pro shop, spa services, and seamless access to luxury accommodations. The emphasis is on comfort and exclusivity with attentive staff and world-class architecture. Expect ample art displays and high-end relaxation areas.
