Course Report

Tseleevo was Russia's first Nicklaus Design course and hosted the 2013 Russian Open, where Michael Hoey became the first Northern Irish winner.

About

Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club, designed by Jack Nicklaus in 2008, is an ultra-luxury private club set north of Moscow. The 18-hole layout stretches through mature woodland and waterscapes, known as one of the premier golf destinations in Europe. The course has hosted European Tour events and boasts world-class facilities, practice grounds, and a renowned club atmosphere.

Caddie Tip

Favor accuracy over distance. Many holes are tree-lined with strategic water hazards, so position off the tee is key. On the 7th, aim for the right side to open up the angle. Fast greens demand careful reading, especially during summer. Take extra care with club selection in breezy conditions.

The Main Challenge

Narrow, tree-lined fairways and frequent water hazards make accuracy paramount at Tseleevo. The back tees play long, forcing creative shot-making and strategic club choices. Fast, contoured greens demand a sharp putting stroke, and the finishing stretch is especially demanding under tournament conditions.

The Good

Golfers love the stunning woodland setting and the meticulous Jack Nicklaus design that offers a blend of challenge and beauty. The ultra-private atmosphere ensures unhurried play, and attention to detail in course conditioning and hospitality is frequently praised, making for a special golf experience overall.

The Not So Good

Some visitors note the restrictive access policies—play is generally limited to members or their guests, and advance booking requirements create occasional frustration. A few golfers wish for greater availability for visiting players or more flexible public access to experience the celebrated layout.

Strategic drives and a precise approach are essential for scoring well here.
