Course Report

Yellowstone Club is famous for being the only private mountain ski and golf community in the world, attracting high-profile members from across the globe.

About

Yellowstone Club is a world-renowned private mountain golf course near Big Sky, Montana, crafted by Tom Weiskopf. Opened in 2005, it features dramatic mountain views, impeccably maintained bentgrass greens, and bluegrass fairways. Exclusively for club members and guests, the course is known for its exceptional privacy and service, creating a memorable alpine golf experience in the heart of the Rockies.

Caddie Tip

Study the mountainous terrain before your round—the elevation changes and dramatic vistas can play tricks on your club selection and depth perception. Aim for the center of greens, as the subtle undulations make putting a consistent challenge throughout all 18 holes.

The Main Challenge

The toughest challenge is judging elevation and prevailing mountain winds. Holes feature uneven lies and penal rough areas, especially near creeks and pines, demanding precision from tee to green and thoughtful course management on every shot.

The Good

Members love the unrivaled privacy and peaceful surroundings, with panoramic mountain scenery, immaculate playing conditions, and excellent service. The thoughtful Weiskopf design weaves strategic holes through towering pines and alpine meadows, ensuring exciting play and pure tranquility every round.

The Not So Good

Accessibility is the biggest limitation—only members and their guests can experience this special course. Some also wish for a few more risk/reward par 5s or signature holes that are more universally recognized outside the club’s private community.
