Andy Staples is a leading American golf course architect recognized for merging Golden Age architectural principles with innovative sustainability practices. Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Staples discovered his passion early, building his first nine-hole course on a sandy lakeshore at age 12. He graduated with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Arkansas in 1995 and founded Staples Golf Design in 2002. Based in Scottsdale, Arizona, his firm has delivered new builds, major renovations, and historic restorations across the U.S. and internationally, including Canada, Japan, and China. A specialist in efficient, sustainable golf solutions, Staples is particularly known for his “Community Links” model, which revitalizes municipal golf courses as inclusive community spaces—earning him the 2015 ASGCA Design Excellence Award for Rockwind Community Links.
