About

Bobby Weed designed Michael Jordan’s private course, GROVE XXIII, which opened in 2020 and is noted for its innovative design tailored to Jordan’s playing style.

Bobby Weed is a respected American golf course architect, known for his creative influence on Tournament Players Club (TPC) venues and other acclaimed layouts. Raised in Irmo, South Carolina, Weed's passion for golf design began as a high schooler when he transformed his family's bean field into a driving range. After studying golf course operations and landscape technology, he apprenticed under the legendary Pete Dye, who became a major influence on his design philosophy. Weed joined the PGA TOUR in 1983 as a superintendent, quickly advancing to become chief architect by 1987. He was responsible for designing and renovating many high-profile courses such as TPC Sawgrass (Valley Course), TPC River Highlands, TPC Tampa Bay, and TPC Summerlin. In 1994, Weed founded Bobby Weed Golf Design, continuing to create world-class venues and restoration projects that host prominent golf tournaments. Beyond design, he actively supports autism-related causes through the HEAL Foundation, which he co-founded with his wife.
