Course Report

TPC Summerlin was the site of Tiger Woods’ first PGA TOUR win in 1996 and was Nevada’s first Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary certified course.

About

TPC Summerlin is an acclaimed private golf course in Las Vegas, Nevada, designed by Bobby Weed with input from PGA TOUR veteran Fuzzy Zoeller. Since opening in 1992, it has served as the annual host of the Shriners Children’s Open on the PGA TOUR. The course features bentgrass greens, dramatic desert landscapes, water hazards, and a strategic, challenging layout.

Caddie Tip

Pay close attention to the swirling desert winds, especially on approach shots. Missing greens can leave difficult up-and-downs from deep bunkers or native desert areas. Focus on club selection and play away from trouble, particularly on the back nine where the closing holes are strategic.

The Main Challenge

The course’s biggest challenge is the interplay of water hazards and desert arroyos, particularly on approach shots. Narrow landing areas and slick, contoured greens place a premium on accuracy from tee to green, and recovering from the rough or native areas is never easy, especially on the finishing stretch.

The Good

Golfers love the mixture of strategic design, excellent desert scenery, and the immaculate bentgrass greens, rare for the Las Vegas area. The course provides a PGA TOUR-quality experience year-round and makes each round feel special thanks to attentive service and modern facilities.

The Not So Good

Members and guests sometimes note the challenge of pace of play during tournament season and occasional wind can make some days especially tough. There are also requests for more shaded areas and updates to some practice facility features to match the newly renovated clubhouse.

It's a pivotal late-round test admired by both amateurs and professionals.
