About
Dan Hixson is the designer of one of America’s only modern reversible 18-hole layouts, the Craddock/Hankins course at Silvies Valley Ranch.
Dan Hixson is a PGA golf professional and acclaimed golf course architect, known for his inventive original designs and thoughtful renovations across the Pacific Northwest. Inspired by visiting golf course construction sites with his father, a PGA pro, from a young age, Hixson developed a passion for the art of golf course design. After a successful stint as a playing professional, including qualifying for the Australian Tour in the mid-1980s, he transitioned to a career as a club professional, eventually becoming Head Golf Professional at Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland. In 1999, he followed his dream to become a golf course architect, starting with small projects before landing his breakthrough: designing Bandon Crossings in Oregon. Hixson has since designed several distinguished courses, including Wine Valley in Washington and the innovative reversible Craddock/Hankins at Silvies Valley Ranch. His projects are celebrated for their playability, strategic interest, and blending naturally with their settings, consistently ranking among the best public courses in the region.
