About
Jan Sederholm co-designed Österåker Golf Club, one of Sweden's few clubs to open ambitiously with 36 holes from the start, and whose courses have hosted top European tournaments.
Jan Sederholm was a notable Swedish golf course architect, best known for his significant contributions to Scandinavian golf in the late 20th century. Sederholm designed several acclaimed courses, including the two main courses at Ålands Golfklubb—Slottsbanan (Castle Course) and Kungsbanan (King's Course)—in the 1970s, skillfully integrating the dramatic Baltic Sea landscape and natural terrain into play. Additionally, he co-designed the 36-hole Österåker Golf Club near Stockholm, an ambitious project opened in 1988 which has hosted national and international tournaments, including several Ladies European Tour events. Sederholm's design work is characterized by creative routing and a deep appreciation for the natural features of each site, earning him recognition in Sweden and neighboring countries. His legacy endures through the prominent clubs and courses that continue to challenge and inspire golfers decades after their creation.
