Course Report

Due to its proximity to Larvik Fjord, sea breezes frequently impact play on many holes, providing a natural defense and making every round unique.

About

Larvik Golf Club is a scenic 18-hole course set along the edge of Larvik Fjord, opened in 1993 and designed by Swedish architect Jan Sederholm. Known for its parkland style with links influences, it features challenging holes shaped by natural terrain and wind from the nearby sea. The club is popular with locals and visitors alike.

Caddie Tip

Wind is a major factor—club up on approaches when heading towards the fjord, especially on the finishing stretch. Play conservatively off the tee on tighter holes and focus on precise iron play to receptive greens. Watch for changing wind directions throughout your round.

The Main Challenge

The toughest part of Larvik is managing the prevailing winds and smartly navigating long par 4s along exposed terrain. Water hazards and subtle rough punish wayward shots, and small, undulating greens demand careful approach play and precise short game skills.

The Good

Golfers love the creative design that maximizes the use of the natural landscape, providing a visually striking and strategic challenge. The proximity to the fjord and gentle elevation changes add variety and interest, making for a memorable golfing experience across all 18 holes.

The Not So Good

Some players wish for more consistent fairway conditioning early and late in the season, as rain and coastal weather can make lies unpredictable. Drainage improvements and additional signage would enhance playability and orientation for first-time visitors.
