About

Perry Dye designed nearly two dozen courses in Japan, making him one of the most internationally prolific American golf architects in Asia.

Perry Dye was a prominent American golf course architect and a member of the famous Dye family, son of Pete and Alice Dye, and brother to PB Dye. Born in 1952 in Indianapolis, Indiana, Perry’s introduction to golf architecture began early as an apprentice under his father at age 12, working on influential projects like Crooked Stick. In 1984, Perry founded Dye Designs, which became known for its innovative and environmentally sensitive course construction. He expanded internationally, designing over 80 courses in more than 15 countries, including nearly two dozen in Japan—a testament to his global influence. His notable designs include TPC Plum Creek, Riverdale Dunes, Glenmoor Country Club, and collaborations with his father such as Pound Ridge Golf Club. Perry was a dedicated leader in the field, personally overseeing many builds and actively participating in professional organizations, including the ASGCA. He is honored by the Perry O. Dye Service Award, created in his name in 2004.
