Course Report

The course was originally constructed for the 2002 Asian Games and later underwent a transformation to become LPGA International Busan, hosting world-class women’s golf tournaments since its reopening.

About

Asiad Country Club is a 27-hole world-class facility designed by Perry O. Dye and extensively renovated by Rees Jones in 2019. Built for the 2002 Asian Games, the course blends natural Korean landscapes with water features and elevates play with strategic design and top-tier conditions. It is a prominent venue in Busan's golf calendar.

Caddie Tip

Greens can be deceptively quick and feature subtle breaks; pay close attention to local caddie lines, especially on approach shots to the water-guarded holes. Take the time to study the contour on the par-3s and favor the safe side as wind and elevation changes can make club selection tricky.

The Main Challenge

The greatest challenge comes from the mix of long par 4s and water hazards, especially on the Lake Course where positioning from the tee is crucial. Strategic bunkering and undulating greens require precise shot-making and thoughtful risk management, especially during windy conditions.

The Good

Golfers consistently praise the impeccable conditioning and the memorable holes that incorporate natural lakes, pine forests, and valley views. The seamless blend of Korean landscape with modern strategic design makes each round varied and engaging, especially with the multiple 9-hole layouts offering fresh challenges.

The Not So Good

Players often cite the green fees as relatively high given the local market, and some mention traffic or access difficulties during peak times. Occasional maintenance work can disrupt play, especially after rainy periods which can impact the lower-lying fairways.
