Course Report

Alotian Club was named the best new private golf course in the country by Golf Digest in 2005 and features a state-of-the-art subterranean system that can heat or cool the greens’ roots for optimal Bentgrass conditions.

About

The Alotian Club in Roland, Arkansas is a highly exclusive, private 18-hole course designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 2004. Built by Warren Stephens, this meticulously maintained club features dramatic elevation changes, Bentgrass greens, and Zoysia fairways across 300 acres of wooded landscape. Consistently ranked among America’s top courses, Alotian is known for its commitment to world-class conditions and service.

Caddie Tip

Tee shots often require precise placement due to elevation changes and subtle doglegs. Focus on approach shots below the hole on the lightning-fast greens, and always check pin position to avoid challenging two-putts. Practice your short game; up-and-downs are often the key to saving par.

The Main Challenge

The greatest challenge at Alotian is managing the significant elevation changes and the lightning-fast, undulating Bentgrass greens. Strategic bunkering and water hazards require precision and careful planning on nearly every hole, rewarding thoughtful golf and penalizing errant shots.

The Good

Golfers are most impressed by the combination of world-class course design, immaculate conditioning, and luxurious exclusivity. The elevation changes, pristine greens, and beautiful lake views provide a memorable and rewarding experience for those fortunate enough to play here.

The Not So Good

Due to its private nature, accessibility is the main limitation—only members and invited guests can play. Some wish for the opportunity to experience the course more easily or for slightly less punitive rough in certain spots. Other complaints are rare due to the exceptional conditioning and high-touch service.
