About

Tom McBroom has more courses ranked in Canada’s Top 100 than any other architect after Stanley Thompson, a testament to his impact on Canadian golf.

Thomas "Tom" McBroom is a celebrated Canadian golf course architect and the founder of Thomas McBroom Associates Ltd., a Toronto-based landscape architecture firm specializing in golf course design. He earned a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Guelph and began his career apprenticing under noted Canadian architect Clinton E. "Robbie" Robertson, a disciple of the legendary Stanley Thompson. McBroom started his own firm in 1978, which has since developed a reputation for crafting beautiful, challenging, and harmonious golf courses that blend naturally with their landscapes.

Over his 40+ year career, McBroom has designed and renovated more than 40 golf courses across Canada, the U.S., Europe, and the Caribbean. His work includes acclaimed courses in Canada such as Beacon Hall, Crowbush Cove, Rocky Crest, Deerhurst Highlands, and Tobiano. His courses have won multiple awards, including six "Best New Canadian Course" honors from Golf Digest. In addition, his designs in Finland and St. Kitts are consistently highly ranked internationally. McBroom’s design philosophy involves emphasizing the character of the land, creating courses that are memorable, aesthetically pleasing, and fun to play.

McBroom is a longtime member of St. George's Golf and Country Club, lives in Etobicoke, Ontario, and continues to influence Canadian golf course architecture as one of the country’s leading architects.
