Course Report

Crowbush Cove hosted the 1998 Export 'A' Skins Game with golf greats Mark O’Meara, Fred Couples, John Daly, and Mike Weir.

About

A celebrated links-style course on the north shore of PEI, The Links at Crowbush Cove was designed by Thomas McBroom and opened in 1993. Its 18 holes wind through seaside dunes, wetlands, and spruce groves, offering dramatic coastal views and challenging, wind-affected play. Consistently rated among Canada's top public courses, Crowbush features undulating fairways, pot bunkers, and slick greens.

Caddie Tip

Beware the wind—several holes play straight into the prevailing Atlantic breeze, notably on the back nine. On the signature par-3 16th, take at least one extra club when it's gusty. Greens run quick and true, but breaks near the ocean are subtle. Favor the low side on approaches into coastal wind, and don’t be greedy on forced carries.

The Main Challenge

The greatest challenge at Crowbush comes from its relentless wind and dramatic dune-carved holes, especially on the exposed back nine. Many fairways contour through coastal landforms with little protection, so approach shots must factor trajectory and wind direction. Large, fast greens are pot-bunkered and demand precision reads.

The Good

Golfers rave about the memorable seaside holes, particularly those routed through tall natural dunes, and the stunning Atlantic views. The layout combines a classic links feel with carefully framed shots and excellent green sites. Visitors also highlight the rich variety between stretching, wind-exposed holes and protected inland routing, making every round unique.

The Not So Good

Common critiques include conditioning fluctuations early and late in the season, as well as the occasional slow pace of play during peak times. The natural setting, while beautiful, can lead to challenging recoveries if tee shots stray into dunes or deep rough. Some golfers feel off-course facilities could be expanded for a resort-level destination.

16

No items found.

The par-3 16th plays over a dramatic set of coastal dunes with the Gulf of St. Lawrence providing a breathtaking backdrop. Winds coming off the water often force players to carefully judge both distance and direction. The sloping green is well-guarded by sand and natural undulations, making club selection and accuracy crucial.

Clubhouse

No items found.

The modern clubhouse sits atop a dune overlooking the course and offers a pro shop, locker rooms, showers, and full-service restaurant and bar. There is also a patio with expansive views, rental club availability, and friendly, knowledgeable staff to assist guests year round.

Practice Facilities

No items found.

Full driving range, large putting green, and dedicated short game area—including bunkers and chipping zones—allow for all facets of warm-up and practice. Onsite PGA professionals are available for lessons. Facilities are well-maintained and cater to both experienced players and beginners.
