Course Report

Bandon Preserve is unique among the Bandon courses as a 13-hole par-3 layout; all profits from green fees help fund conservation, education, and economic initiatives across the Southern Oregon Coast.

About

Bandon Preserve is a 13-hole par-3 course at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw in 2012. Set atop sand dunes with ocean views, the course features imaginative short holes and fast, fescue greens. All net proceeds benefit local conservation and community projects through the Bandon Dunes Charitable Foundation.

Caddie Tip

Let the wind, which often swirls off the ocean, help you—use the contours of greens and fairways creatively, and don't be afraid to attempt bump-and-run shots. Club selection is critical, especially on holes with large elevation changes or exposed locations. Take a moment to enjoy each view before you hit.

The Main Challenge

With shifting winds and strong elevation changes, holding greens and selecting the right club on par-3s can be surprisingly tricky. The undulating, tightly-mown fescue turf penalizes imprecision; recovery from missed greens presents creative challenges even for low-handicappers.

The Good

Golfers love the pure fun, creativity, and camaraderie of Bandon Preserve. The course’s spectacular ocean views, imaginative short holes, and relaxed atmosphere make it ideal for all skill levels and a favorite way to finish or break up a longer resort stay.

The Not So Good

Some players wish that more of the holes directly interact with the cliffs or ocean edge. Pace can stall on busy days, and the course’s popularity means it sometimes feels a little less intimate than other Bandon layouts, especially during peak resort periods.

Signature Hole:

#

11

No items found.

The 11th hole, a par 3, plays dramatically downhill toward the Pacific Ocean, with a green perched on a shelf and sweeping views beyond. Its exposed, breezy setting demands precise club selection and rewards a well-struck tee shot with one of the most breathtaking scenes on the property.

Clubhouse

No items found.

Guests enjoy a well-stocked pro shop, snack bar, on-course refreshments, and convenient restroom facilities. As part of Bandon Dunes Resort, players have access to higher-end dining and lounge amenities at the main clubhouses nearby.

Practice Facilities

Bandon Dunes offers a sprawling, 50-acre Practice Center with two full grass ranges oriented in opposite directions, a massive putting green, and multiple short-game areas for bunker, pitch, and wedge work. Charlotte’s 9‑hole par‑3 course sits alongside the range, letting players simulate on-course approaches before or after a round. Near the main lodge, the Punchbowl, an enormous, wildly contoured putting course that provides a social, lighted venue for inventive putting games and after‑dinner matches, echoing the feel of a fun, miniature links. Collectively, the facilities let serious golfers grind and buddies’ trips unwind in equal measure.
