Course Report

Bayside Resort Golf Club was Delaware's first course designed by Jack Nicklaus and has been ranked the #1 Best Course You Can Play in Delaware for over a decade.

About

Bayside Resort Golf Club is Delaware’s first Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, set just outside Fenwick Island on the scenic Assawoman Bay coastline. The course, designed by Jack Nicklaus and Rick Jacobson, offers 18 holes winding through salt marshes, meadows, and woodlands with water views and strategic challenges, making it a standout destination for golf in the Mid-Atlantic.

Caddie Tip

Play conservatively off the tee on longer holes, as water, marsh, and native rough frequently come into play. Positioning is key—avoid attacking every pin and take extra club when approaching greens set into breezy areas. The three distinct landscapes mean the wind and firmness can change greatly throughout your round.

The Main Challenge

The greatest challenge at Bayside is contending with the natural features—salt marshes and water hazards are in play on many holes. The ever-present coastal winds and forced carries demand strategic shot selection and control. The layout rarely allows for a straightforward round, keeping even experienced golfers on their toes.

The Good

Golfers love Bayside for its diverse challenge—three unique environments keep the round interesting, and the views of the salt marshes and Ocean City skyline are exceptional. The pristine conditions, creative green complexes, and a layout with risk-reward choices ensure both beauty and shot value throughout the round.

The Not So Good

Some golfers mention slow pace of play during busy periods and can find the forced carries over marshland intimidating for higher handicaps. There are occasional complaints about tricky green undulations and the difficulty for those not used to coastal winds, which can make scoring tough for less experienced players.
