Course Report
Baywood Greens is adorned with over 300,000 annual and perennial plants, wildflowers, and shrubs, making it one of the most visually stunning courses in the Mid-Atlantic.
About
Baywood Greens, designed by Bill Love and Rob Tunnell, is a meticulously manicured, public parkland course in Long Neck, Delaware. Known for lush landscaping and dramatic water features, it offers two nines: the tree-lined Woodside Nine and the water-laden Waterside Nine. The course is praised for its beauty, playability, and consistently excellent conditions, making it a standout in the region.
Caddie Tip
Keep your tee shots straight, especially on the Waterside Nine, where water hazards are present on nearly every hole. Take an extra moment to check the wind direction near the water and choose your club accordingly. Conservative strategies often yield the best results; avoid pins tucked near water.
The Main Challenge
The most formidable challenge at Baywood Greens is managing the numerous water hazards, especially on the Waterside Nine. Many holes force players to navigate forced carries and island greens, demanding accuracy and mental discipline. The visual intimidation of water and flower beds can test even experienced golfers’ focus.
The Good
Golfers rave about Baywood Greens’ immaculate conditioning and extravagant landscaping. The abundance of flowers, water features, and bridges create a visually stunning experience on every hole. The friendly staff, exceptional customer service, and challenging yet fair layout make it a must-play destination for many returning visitors.
The Not So Good
While most reviews are glowing, some players wish for a more flexible tee time system or better pace of play during peak hours, especially in high season. A few find the course setup penalizing for high handicappers due to frequent water hazards and forced carries.
Signature Hole:
#
18
The 18th hole, a picturesque par 4, features water prominently and demands a strategic approach to an island-like green guarded by bunkers and dramatic landscaping. This memorable finishing hole is both beautiful and challenging, requiring precision and nerve to navigate the water on both the tee shot and approach for a satisfying conclusion to the round.
Clubhouse
The clubhouse features an upscale restaurant, full-service bar, banquet facilities, spacious locker rooms with showers, and a fully stocked pro shop. Event spaces, outdoor patios, and on-course refreshment services are also available.
Practice Facilities
Practice facilities at Baywood Greens include a high-quality driving range, large putting and chipping greens, and well-maintained practice bunkers. Golf lessons and clinics are available through the Tritapoe Academy of Golf with PGA instruction onsite.
