Course Report
Belmont Country Club hosted the 2015 Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship, one of the PGA TOUR Champions’ major events.
About
Belmont Country Club is a private, classic Donald Ross-designed golf course established in 1918 and set on rolling terrain in Metro Boston. Known for pristine Bentgrass fairways and greens, the 18-hole parkland layout has hosted major professional events and blends tree-lined holes with strategic bunkering, providing a challenging experience for golfers of all skill levels.
Caddie Tip
Keep your tee shots in play by favoring conservative targets, especially on holes protected by bunkers and heavily treed rough. Fast, subtly contoured Bentgrass greens reward good placement on approach shots, and pay special attention to swirling winds on par 3s. Knowledge of pin positions and avoiding short-siding yourself is key.
The Main Challenge
Belmont’s toughest test comes from a combination of narrow, tree-lined fairways and professionally maintained, fast Bentgrass greens. Several holes demand precision off the tee to avoid deep rough or bunkering, and subtle Ross green contours place a premium on approach shot accuracy and deft putting.
The Good
Golfers consistently praise the course's classic Ross architecture, tight fairways, and consistently quick, smooth greens. The club is also admired for immaculate course conditioning, mature trees, and the challenge posed by natural land movement. A strong sense of tradition and exclusivity complete the experience.
The Not So Good
Some members and guests note the challenge of pace of play during peak times, particularly on tournament or outing days. Tree growth and tightness in certain fairways have also raised calls for additional clearing to improve playability and variety.
Signature Hole:
#
5
The 5th hole is a well-protected par 3 where wind plays a key role and water guards the front right. The green is generously sized but flat, with a right-side pin position demanding a precise carry over water. It's considered one of Belmont's most visually striking and challenging holes.
Clubhouse
Members enjoy expansive clubhouse amenities, including modern locker rooms, dining facilities, banquet spaces, a fitness center, and pro shop. Social events, swimming pool, and tennis courts round out a traditional country club experience with top-tier hospitality.
Practice Facilities
Belmont offers a full driving range, short game area, dedicated chipping and pitching green, and practice bunkers. Instruction from experienced PGA professionals and well-maintained practice putting surfaces ensure golfers can warm up or fine-tune their game with excellent amenities.
