Course Report

The Cove Club course was consistently ranked in the world's top 100 courses while operating as the public Ocean Course, earning acclaim for its seaside finishing stretch.

About

Cabo Del Sol's Cove Club is a Jack Nicklaus Signature design inaugurated in 1994, renowned for blending desert, mountain, and sea into one of the world's most spectacular golf experiences. The revitalized layout, previously known as the Ocean Course, features dramatic oceanfront holes and modern enhancements, making it a top private golf destination in Mexico.

Caddie Tip

Play for the center of the greens on the oceanside holes, especially 16 through 18, as swirling winds can mislead club selection. On desert holes, be mindful of firm conditions and aim for safer angles, since missing greens can lead to awkward recoveries off hardpan or into native waste areas.

The Main Challenge

The hardest stretch is the finishing trio along the coast. Wind exposure, narrow landing areas, and strategically placed bunkers create a dramatic test, demanding accuracy and decision making. Errant shots can find cliffs or beach, making par a prized score, especially when the wind picks up off the sea.

The Good

Golfers love the combination of panoramic ocean views and varied shot values, with four holes directly on the Sea of Cortez. The Nicklaus-designed layout delivers thrilling elevation changes, memorable risk-reward options, and signature approach shots, creating a world-class resort golf experience unique to the Baja peninsula.

The Not So Good

Some players note that limited access (private club status) makes it difficult for outside guests to experience the course. During busy stretches, certain tee intervals can lengthen rounds, and golfers sometimes mention that wind can amplify difficulty unexpectedly.
