Course Report

The course has hosted U.S. Open qualifying, demonstrating its tournament-level setup despite being a private, member-oriented facility.

About

Cape Cod National Golf Club, designed by Brian Silva, Geoffrey Cornish, and Mark Mungeam, is a highly regarded private club in Brewster, Massachusetts. Opened in 1998, this 18-hole, par-72 parkland layout is praised for its challenging play, scenic views, and meticulously maintained bentgrass greens and fairways. Members and select guests enjoy exceptional conditions and a prestigious golf experience.

Caddie Tip

Course management is vital; position tee shots carefully, especially on doglegs and into prevailing winds. Approach shots tend to play longer due to subtle elevation changes. Take extra care on greens, as speed and subtle breaks can cost you. Study pin positions closely and favor the safer side of tough hole locations, as recovery shots can be challenging from deep bunkers or heavy rough.

The Main Challenge

The course’s greatest challenge lies in its long, demanding par 4s, subtle elevation shifts, and the ever-present coastal wind, which can vary direction throughout a round. Strategic bunkering guards approaches and requires careful club selection. When rough grows thick mid-summer, missed fairways can penalize even strong players. Greens are quick, undulating, and require precise touch.

The Good

Golfers most enjoy the well-designed routing and variety that challenges all aspects of their game, along with immaculate bentgrass playing surfaces throughout the season. The course's seclusion, beautiful natural surroundings, and exemplary staff service make playing here a memorable and satisfying experience for serious players and club guests.

The Not So Good

Access is extremely limited, frustrating even for area golf enthusiasts—only members and resort guests can play. Some players comment on the wind factor in summer and potential for tough rough off fairways. Pace can slow on peak member weekends, and a few holes are considered less distinctive compared to the layout’s best stretches.
