Course Report

CommonGround was redesigned by Tom Doak, one of the world’s most respected modern golf architects, and serves as the home course for the Colorado Golf Association.

About

CommonGround Golf Course, redesigned by Tom Doak and Renaissance Golf Design, is a public 18-hole facility in Aurora, Colorado. Emphasizing strategic angles, width, and thoughtful bunkering, it delivers a mentally engaging round for golfers of all skill levels, with excellent walkability and highly rated course conditions.

Caddie Tip

Accuracy off the tee is rewarded, but choosing correct angles into greens is vital for lower scores. Practice your putts on the quick practice green before your round, as the course’s greens can be slick and challenging, with the potential for three-putts if you’re not dialed in early.

The Main Challenge

The true challenge at CommonGround lies in the greens and bunkering. Fast, true putting surfaces with subtle contours force precision in approach shots, while well-placed bunkers test every decision. The course rewards thoughtful, strategic play but quickly punishes mistakes or overly aggressive tactics.

The Good

Golfers love the strategic layout that offers multiple options on every shot, giving even repeat players fresh decisions from tee to green. The course’s playability, outstanding greens, and exceptional maintenance make it a favorite among both local enthusiasts and traveling golf purists.

The Not So Good

Some players would like to see improved value, specifically with the cart experience lacking amenities such as GPS and a higher cart fee than expected. Occasional reports mention limited shade and wind can make summer rounds tough, and crowded tee sheets can slow the pace.
