Course Report

Transformed from farmland, Copper Rock is the newest championship layout in Southern Utah and hosts the Epson Tour's Copper Rock Championship, making it a showcase for future stars of women's professional golf.

About

Copper Rock Golf Course is a public championship desert layout in Hurricane, Utah, designed by Gordon Zitting. Opened in 2020, it offers 18 holes over 6,901 scenic yards with dramatic elevation changes, panoramic red rock views, and a risk-reward mix of holes. The course has quickly gained acclaim and hosts the annual Epson Tour Copper Rock Championship.

Caddie Tip

Plan for swirling winds, especially late morning and afternoon. Play conservatively on holes surrounded by desert wash, especially on the blind par-5s and risk-reward par-4s. For the signature 5th, favor the right center of the fairway and be mindful of the pronounced slopes on multi-tiered greens throughout the course.

The Main Challenge

Copper Rock's greatest challenge is the relentless wind, which can transform straightforward holes into strategic tests. Narrow fairways run alongside desert washes, and multi-tiered undulating greens place a premium on approach accuracy. Elevation changes and carries over natural hazards test every aspect of shotmaking.

The Good

Most golfers rave about the sweeping desert scenery, panoramic red rock and cliffside views on nearly every hole, and the thrilling mix of strategic, risk-reward tee shots. The condition of the turf and smoothness of the new greens also get high marks, especially around major events.

The Not So Good

Golfers frequently mention that the temporary clubhouse amenities and the awkward cart path drive to the first tee detract from the overall experience. As the facility grows, improvements in signage, permanent clubhouse, and finer sand in some bunkers are often requested.

Signature Hole:

#

5

No items found.

Hole 5 is a memorable par-5 featuring a blind tee shot to a fairway bordered by desert washes on both sides. The wide, hourglass-shaped green slopes from right to left and is guarded by a small bunker. Strategic placement off the tee and precise approach are key to conquering this standout hole.

Clubhouse

The clubhouse includes a pro shop with apparel and equipment, a snack bar, indoor seating, and restrooms. While a temporary facility now, plans are in place for a permanent expanded clubhouse with locker rooms, full-service dining, and upgraded player lounge areas.

Practice Facilities

No items found.

Copper Rock offers a full driving range, short game area, and putting greens. The practice range features grass tees and adequate targets. Facilities are designed to help visitors warm up thoroughly before rounds and are suitable for both beginners and serious players.
