Course Report
The layout features three par fives in the first four holes on the back nine, a rare design quirk that reflects Tom Bendelow’s original 1920s vision while enhancing the variety of play.
About
Edina Country Club, established in 1923 and later redesigned in 2011 by Tom Lehman and Chris Brands, is regarded as one of Minnesota's premier private parkland courses. Known for its gently rolling terrain and strategic shot values, the club offers a classic yet challenging golf experience complemented by a variety of member amenities and championship-hosting pedigree.
Caddie Tip
Course management is key at Edina CC; keep tee shots in the fairway to avoid mature trees, and pay close attention to the subtle elevation changes and green contours. Conservative approaches, especially on long par 4s and around water, are usually rewarded.
The Main Challenge
Edina CC’s greatest challenge lies in its blend of narrow fairways, strategic bunkering, and well-guarded greens. Water comes into play on several holes, and the greens feature subtle undulations that test even skilled putters. Its demanding par 4s, notably on the finishing stretch, test stamina and focus.
The Good
Golfers consistently praise Edina Country Club's superb course conditions, the tradition-rich yet modern layout, and the private, welcoming atmosphere. Many enjoy the challenging yet fair design and the variety of shots required on every round, highlighted by the picturesque setting and impressive facilities.
The Not So Good
Due to its tight, tree-lined corridors, the course can feel punitive to higher handicappers who miss fairways. Some members wish for more flexibility around tee times and course availability, as peak periods can see wait lists and slower pace.
Signature Hole:
#
18
The 18th hole at Edina Country Club is a par 4 that plays over 430 yards and finishes near the elegant clubhouse, making it one of the most memorable and demanding closing holes in the region. Well-placed bunkers and subtle elevation changes require accuracy off both the tee and approach for a satisfying finish.
Clubhouse
The clubhouse is elegant and expansive, offering multiple dining venues, event spaces, a pool, and tennis facilities. Member services include locker rooms, bag storage, professional staff, and active social programming throughout the year.
Practice Facilities
The club provides a full-featured practice complex including a driving range, short-game area, and large putting green. Instruction is available year-round, and junior programs are a core offering, ensuring all types of golfers can hone their skills.
