Course Report
The club is co-designed by golf legends Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus—one of the only courses in Southeast Asia with both as architects.
About
Emeralda Golf Club (Lake Course) in Depok, West Java, was designed by Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus and offers scenic lakeside holes, strategic challenges, and a tranquil retreat just outside Jakarta. Known for its blend of natural scenery, top conditions, and championship pedigree, its lush fairways and water features make it a favorite for locals and visitors.
Caddie Tip
Take extra care on holes with prominent water hazards, particularly the par 3 eighth, where the wind and subtle breaks on the green can add difficulty. Experienced caddies recommend a conservative, well-calculated approach to avoid the water and maximize scoring chances.
The Main Challenge
The toughest part of the Lake Course is negotiating its prevalent water hazards, which impact decision-making on tee shots and approaches. Strategic bunkering compounds the difficulty, and the swirling wind can affect shots near the lakes. Successful play requires careful club selection and mental focus throughout the round.
The Good
Golfers love the Lake Course’s tranquil setting and variety of strategic water hazards that demand thoughtful play. The course’s natural beauty, maintenance standards, and hospitality make for a memorable round that balances enjoyment with challenge, while the Palmer and Nicklaus design pedigree is especially prized.
The Not So Good
Players sometimes point to course congestion during peak times and the regular afternoon rain showers which can impact pace of play. Occasional maintenance of bunkers and certain greens may fall short of international elite standards, especially during the rainy season.
Signature Hole:
#
8
Hole 8, a par 3, is the Lake Course's iconic signature—playing over water to an island-style green surrounded by tranquil scenery. With a challenging tee shot and beautiful surroundings, this hole tests your nerves and shot-making skills while offering memorable vistas.
Clubhouse
The clubhouse is modern and luxurious, featuring full locker rooms with sauna, a premium pro shop, fine dining, casual restaurants, a lobby lounge, six VIP rooms, meeting facilities, and event halls. The relaxing atmosphere, attentive service, and food options provide a refined experience after your round.
Practice Facilities
Emeralda offers an excellent driving range, short game area, and large practice putting greens, all maintained to high standards. Lessons are available, and the practice areas are spacious enough for both warm-up and full practice sessions. Caddie services and buggy rentals are accessible at all times.
