Course Report
The course’s most famous holes (15-17), called 'The Devils’ Cauldron,' are entirely surrounded by ancient black lava rock—a feature unique among U.S. golf courses.
About
Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club is a private, championship course designed by Johnny Miller and Fred Bliss. Known for its striking blend of red rock desert, ancient lava flows, and lush playing surfaces, it delivers a uniquely scenic and demanding test. Regularly rated among Utah's best, it combines luxury club amenities, challenging golf, and world-class views.
Caddie Tip
Bring extra balls for the back nine—lava fields devour errant shots, especially from 15–17. Aim to stay conservative and play for position rather than length on these dramatic holes. The firm desert turf leads to extra roll, so club down on downhill approaches. Greens are slick and slope deceptively away from the mountains.
The Main Challenge
The greatest challenge is the stretch of holes through 'The Devils’ Cauldron' (15–17), where precision is mandatory and distractions are plenty. Tight landing areas, forced carries over lava, and swirling winds raise the shotmaking bar. Errant drives often result in unplayable lies or lost balls, keeping even skilled golfers on edge.
The Good
Golfers rave about the breathtaking setting, with red sandstone cliffs, black lava rock flows, and panoramic desert-mountain vistas. The playing experience is uniquely immersive; holes transition between green oasis, desert, and volcanic terrain, demanding shotmaking while delivering constant visual drama.
The Not So Good
Member and visitor comments most frequently note the limited access for non-members, and the sometimes unforgiving rough—especially where lava rock borders fairways. Some golfers find the routing around the lava fields to be visually stunning but penalizing for mid to high handicappers. Lower-handicap players relish the challenge, but beginners may find scoring difficult.
Signature Hole:
#
15
The par-4 15th hole, known as part of 'The Devils’ Cauldron,' is carved through dramatic black lava rock fields, creating a stunning visual and strategic challenge. The hole requires a precise drive and approach to avoid volcanic hazards, making it a memorably beautiful and punishing test that defines Entrada’s character.
Clubhouse
The expansive clubhouse features fine and casual dining with panoramic course views, modern locker rooms, a full-service golf shop, luxurious lounge areas, and event spaces. Additional amenities include a fitness center, spa, and swimming pools, supporting both golf and family recreation.
