Course Report
The course is laid out on the former parklands of Kasteel de Haar, the largest castle in the Netherlands, providing scenic backdrops and an atmospheric playing experience unique in Dutch golf.
About
Golfclub de Haar features 18 beautifully designed parkland holes laid out over the historic grounds of Kasteel de Haar. Redesigned in 2021, the course combines mature trees, challenging water features, and strategic narrow fairways. Architect Frank Pennink's touch is evident in the thoughtful routing and the balance of challenge and playability.
Caddie Tip
Play conservatively off the tee on several outer holes, where wind and water hazards can make aggressive lines risky. Favor accuracy over distance, and study wind forecasts for the day, as exposed holes can play much tougher in strong gusts.
The Main Challenge
The narrow fairways and multiple water hazards test players’ shot selection and accuracy throughout the round, while prevailing winds on the exposed holes present additional strategic challenges. Smart course management and careful club selection are crucial to scoring well.
The Good
Golfers highlight the serene natural setting around the castle, the immaculate greens, and the variety offered by the parkland layout. The friendly clubhouse and a welcoming member base create a warm atmosphere that stands out, making visits memorable for locals and first-time guests alike.
The Not So Good
Due to water hazards and narrow fairways, pace of play can slow during busy times, especially for less experienced groups. Some players note that the practice facilities could be expanded, and the club recognizes a need for a new larger clubhouse to serve growing demand.
