Course Report

Granite Links was constructed using over 13 million tons of fill from Boston’s 'Big Dig' project, transforming landfill and old granite quarries into a premier golf destination with unmatched skyline views.

About

Granite Links Golf Club, designed by John Sanford, is a unique 27-hole public facility perched atop old quarries and landfill. Opened in 2003, the club is renowned for its dramatic elevation changes, challenging layout, and sweeping views of Boston. It combines playability for all skill levels with a stunning setting and vibrant clubhouse amenities.

Caddie Tip

With exposed, elevated holes and frequent wind, club selection is crucial—especially on uphill approaches. Fairways can be firm and fast, so aim for the wider landing areas. Play smart around greens, as putts can be tricky with subtle undulations.

The Main Challenge

Elevation changes and ever-present winds make club selection challenging throughout the round. The layout features forced carries, undulating greens, and well-placed bunkers, requiring precise approach shots and confident putting. The finishing stretch can decide matches.

The Good

Golfers rave about the panoramic views of Boston and the harbor, especially at sunset. The dramatic elevation changes, quarry backdrops, and the memorable clubhouse experience create a destination feel rare for a public club.

The Not So Good

Some golfers mention high demand and potential for slow pace of play during peak hours. The course can be tough for walkers due to elevation, and some wish for more consistent tee time availability for the public.
