About

Iberostar Bávaro Golf Club, designed by P.B. Dye and opened in 2009, is set within the Iberostar resort complex. This par-72 championship course features striking white silica sand bunkers, bold undulations, numerous lakes, streams, and lush Paspalum turf. Known for its visual appeal and playable yet challenging layout, the course attracts both resort guests and traveling golfers to Punta Cana.

Caddie Tip

Beware of the sharp undulations and crosswinds on many holes, especially on approaches into well-bunkered greens. Favor accuracy and club selection over distance, and take full advantage of the short-game areas for recovery practice before your round.

The Main Challenge

The course tests players with undulating terrain, deep fairway and greenside bunkers, and tricky water hazards on several holes. The routing takes advantage of natural elevation changes and crosswinds that can make club selection difficult; many greens are elevated or protected, requiring thoughtful approaches.

The Good

Golfers love the visual contrast of bright white bunkers and deep-green Paspalum grass, combined with relaxing all-inclusive amenities and accommodating service. The variety of unique holes—incorporating water, desert, and jungle features—makes each round memorable for resort guests and repeat visitors alike.

The Not So Good

Some guests mention slow pace of play during busy periods and that course maintenance occasionally falls short of top standards, particularly after heavy tropical rains. Improved drainage and more consistent green speeds would enhance the overall experience, especially for low-handicap players seeking championship conditions.

Signature Hole:

#

8

The 8th hole at Iberostar Bávaro Golf Club is one of the course’s most memorable features—a par-3 “island green” shaped exactly like the Iberostar star logo. Instead of water, the striking star-shaped green is completely surrounded by sand, creating a visually dramatic and challenging target. With a pond guarding the left and nowhere to hide, precision is essential for hitting and holding this unique green.

Clubhouse

The clubhouse includes a pro shop, locker rooms, showers, a well-stocked bar, and a casual restaurant serving local fare. Friendly staff provide seamless guest service, and the outdoor patio offers shaded seating overlooking the finishing hole, ideal for after-round relaxation.

A full driving range and short-game area provide space for warmup and practice. Balls and range access are typically included with green fees, and rental clubs are available. Chipping and putting greens allow for focused pre-round preparation before tackling the strong opening stretch.
