Course Report
Copperhead’s closing stretch, holes 16 through 18, is known as the 'Snake Pit' and is considered one of the toughest finales on the PGA Tour.
About
Copperhead is the championship course at Innisbrook Resort, designed by Larry Packard. Renowned for hosting the Valspar Championship, it features rolling terrain, tree-lined fairways, and strategic water hazards. The course is challenging yet fair and is a favorite among PGA Tour professionals.
Caddie Tip
Don't get greedy on the par-5 14th; play for smart position off the tee and on your layup, as trouble lurks everywhere. For the 'Snake Pit' (16-18), hitting the fairways is essential—club down if necessary—and play safe rather than attack flagsticks blindly.
The Main Challenge
The toughest challenge is the finishing Snake Pit: holes 16, 17, and 18. These demand focus and precision—errant tee shots are harshly penalized by water, trees, and deep bunkers. On windy days, the elevated greens and swirling conditions make club selection a true test.
The Good
Golfers rave about the strategic challenge and beauty of the undulating terrain, especially the famed Snake Pit stretch. The secluded feeling provided by dense, mature trees and rolling hills is a rare treat for Florida golf, making each round memorable and enjoyable.
The Not So Good
Some guests report slow pace of play during peak resort times, and the bunkers, while functional, lack visual appeal. Occasional maintenance issues on rough and fairways after heavy rain have also been mentioned.
Signature Hole:
#
14
The 14th at Copperhead is a 590-yard par 5 double dogleg, requiring precision and strategy throughout. Players must navigate trees left off the tee, then turn back right for a well-defended approach—heavy bunkering left, water short right. For most, it's strictly a three-shot hole.
Clubhouse
Spacious clubhouse offers a pro shop, upscale locker rooms, dining options, bar, terrace seating, and access to resort pools, tennis courts, and spa. The overall resort offers multiple restaurants, a fitness center, and business facilities.
Practice Facilities
Excellent facilities include a full driving range with grass tees, short game area, and multiple putting greens. PGA instruction and group clinics are offered, and guests can use complimentary practice balls with many packages.
