Course Report

Lassing Pointe hosted the Kentucky Open and NCAA Regional Championship, and was ranked Kentucky's #1 public course by Golfweek in 2003.

About

Lassing Pointe Golf Course in Union, Kentucky, is a Dr. Michael Hurdzan design revered as the state's best public course. Sculpted out of rolling terrain and mature woods, its playable yet strategic layout draws all skill levels. The course’s seclusion, creative hole variety, and strong conditioning ensure it remains a standout value for area golfers.

Caddie Tip

Keep tee shots in play and be mindful of fairway bunkers and streams. Greens are receptive but mildly undulating—aim for the center and be aware of subtle breaks. Avoid missing long on approach shots, as recoveries can be difficult from behind most greens. Course management and disciplined play are rewarded throughout the round.

The Main Challenge

The real tests at Lassing Pointe are accuracy off the tee and approach, as the course’s bunkers and water hazards are cleverly placed near landing areas and greens. Hole variety requires creative shot-making. Dense trees line several fairways, putting a premium on keeping the ball in play. Risk-reward options and undulating greens keep scoring challenging.

The Good

Golfers love Lassing Pointe’s blend of creativity and playability. Beautiful wooded corridors, memorable elevation changes, and strong hole variety keep the routing consistently interesting. The value, course conditions, and genuine public access are all regarded as major positives, earning praise from both locals and visiting players.

The Not So Good

Some players wish for improved pace of play during busy periods, especially on weekends. Mixed feedback exists about cart paths and bunker maintenance after severe weather. Tee time demand can create crowded intervals, and a few golfers wish for a firmer, faster green speed during peak summer months.

Signature Hole:

#

14

No items found.

Its picturesque setting among mature hardwoods and water presents both intimidation and opportunity. Accuracy and distance control are essential, making it a memorable highlight for golfers at Lassing Pointe.

Clubhouse

No items found.

Lassing Pointe’s clubhouse features a pro shop, snack bar, and comfortable seating areas. The staff is known for their friendliness. Locker rooms, equipment rental, and golf lessons are available. While not extravagant, the amenities are clean, functional, and provide all the essentials for a pre- or post-round experience.

Practice Facilities
