Course Report
This course was co-designed by Louisiana native and PGA Tour major champion David Toms, bringing PGA-level strategic design to bayou country.
About
LaTour Golf Club, located in the heart of Louisiana’s bayou country, is an 18-hole, par 72 course designed by PGA Tour champion David Toms and Ken Morgan. Opened in 2009, this parkland layout stretches over 7,200 yards and features immaculate greens, native grass areas, and challenging water hazards amid rolling grasslands and tranquil residential surroundings.
Caddie Tip
Play conservatively on holes bordered by native grasses and water hazards—especially on the back nine. Use the wide fairways to your advantage but stay mindful of wind, which can influence club selection. Pay careful attention to green contours, as most putting surfaces have subtle breaks and run at a consistently brisk speed.
The Main Challenge
The toughest aspect of LaTour is the way water and native grasses come into play on many holes, demanding strategic tee shots and precise approaches. On windy days, the open parkland layout increases the challenge further. Players must constantly weigh risk versus reward when planning their shots, particularly on the closing stretch.
The Good
Golfers widely praise LaTour’s pristine course conditions, excellent fairway and green maintenance, and the strong yet playable design by David Toms. The feeling of serenity and Bayou location enhances the atmosphere, and four tee options make it enjoyable for a wide range of skill levels. The friendly staff and top-notch amenities round out a memorable experience.
The Not So Good
Some players note the course can be challenging for higher handicappers due to abundant water hazards and penal native grass. Summer humidity and rain can occasionally affect bunker and rough conditions. A few guests have suggested additional on-course shelters or rest stops would enhance the outside-the-ropes experience.
Signature Hole:
#
18
The 18th hole is a par 4 finishing hole defined by water guarding the fairway and green, making accuracy off the tee and a confident approach shot essential. With bunkers positioned to catch missed shots and subtle slopes on the green, it provides a dramatic finish that rewards precise play while punishing mistakes—an excellent summary of the course’s challenge.
Clubhouse
LaTour's clubhouse features a welcoming lounge, pro shop, locker rooms, and the LaTour Bar & Grill with excellent food and drinks. Event and banquet facilities can accommodate tournaments and gatherings. Everything is kept clean and comfortable, and service is consistently praised.
Practice Facilities
Expect a well-maintained driving range, short game area, and large practice putting green, suitable for both warming up and serious practice. The full-service pro shop is stocked with top equipment, and instruction is available. The on-site bar and grill offers a comfortable spot to relax after your round.
