Course Report

Lehigh Country Club's course was designed by William S. Flynn, who also worked on such legendary layouts as Shinnecock Hills and Cherry Hills, adding to its architectural pedigree.

About

Lehigh Country Club is a classic parkland layout designed by renowned architect William S. Flynn, nestled along the Little Lehigh Creek in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Known for its rolling terrain, tree-lined fairways, and strategic bunkering, the course provides a true test for players of all skill levels. Its blend of tradition and natural beauty makes it one of the top 15 ranked golf courses in Pennsylvania.

Caddie Tip

Pay special attention to club selection with elevation changes throughout the round, as several holes play substantially downhill or uphill. On the greens, stay below the hole—putts from above can be extremely slick, especially in early morning dew or late afternoon speed.

The Main Challenge

The course’s most demanding aspect is the approach play, as many greens are guarded by deep bunkers and subtle undulations. The terrain and creek come into play on several holes, punishing errant shots. Fast, sloping greens add to the scoring challenge, requiring precision and caution.

The Good

Golfers most love the course’s classic Flynn design, blending strategic shot values with natural features like the Little Lehigh Creek and mature trees. The tranquility, varied holes, and concise routing make every round memorable and visually appealing, particularly during the lush spring and vibrant autumn months.

The Not So Good

Some guests report that the course can become soft and lose firmness after periods of rain. There are occasional concerns about slower greens or pace on busy days, and a few holes are noted as less dramatic compared to the standout creekside stretches.
