Course Report

The 15th hole’s design is modeled after North Berwick’s renowned par 3, making it a unique piece of golf architecture in Georgia.

About

Lookout Mountain Golf Club is a classic 18-hole course in northwest Georgia designed by Seth Raynor in 1925. Recognized as a top classical layout, the course features memorable mountain vistas, strategic bunkering, and Bermuda fairways, providing a world-class golfing experience for members and their guests.

Caddie Tip

Tee shots can play shorter than their actual yardage due to elevation changes. Carefully judge your club selection on approach shots, and favor the center of greens—deep bunkering around many greens can penalize aggressive, off-target plays.

The Main Challenge

The course’s greatest challenge lies in its strategic bunkering and subtle elevation changes, requiring careful club selection and course management. Greens are well-protected and often slope away, rewarding accuracy and penalizing overly aggressive approaches.

The Good

Golfers love the panoramic mountain vistas that frame almost every hole, especially the cliffside views on the high points of the course. The Seth Raynor design presents memorable holes with a blend of challenge and beauty, making each round feel special and rewarding.

The Not So Good

Some guests mention that wet weather can affect course drainage in lower-lying areas, occasionally making play challenging for walkers and impacting turf conditions. A few also wish for expanded practice areas and updated clubhouse amenities in keeping with the classic course’s reputation.
