Course Report
Meadowbrook Golf Course hosted the 1984 USGA Women’s Public Links Championship and the 2009 & 2010 NAIA College Women’s National Golf Championships.
About
Meadowbrook Golf Course is a parkland-style, 18-hole public facility designed by David Gill in 1972, featuring Rapid Creek meandering through the course and water in play on 9 holes. Awarded Black Hills' Best Golf Course, it is known for mature trees, engaging design, and a welcoming atmosphere at the foothills of the Black Hills.
Caddie Tip
Due to the presence of Rapid Creek meandering through 9 different holes and several tree-lined fairways, strategic tee shot placement is crucial—avoid being overly aggressive, especially with water looming on approach shots. Players new to Meadowbrook should pay extra attention to subtle breaks on greens, which run at a moderately quick pace.
The Main Challenge
The course’s biggest test is precise navigation around Rapid Creek, which crosses several fairways and greens. Water hazards on 9 holes and mature trees place a premium on accuracy, particularly on tight driving holes and tricky approaches where misjudged shots easily lead to penalty strokes.
The Good
Golfers most enjoy Meadowbrook’s blend of mature trees, flowing water features, and classic parkland routing that bring scenic beauty and strategic shot values to every round. The friendly staff and consistent course conditions are continually highlighted as strengths.
The Not So Good
Some golfers mention that slow pace of play during peak times and sporadic wet conditions near Rapid Creek can be issues. Others wish for expanded or modernized practice facilities and upgraded bunker conditioning, especially in wetter periods.
