Course Report

The club was founded by a group of local community leaders in the early 1970s as Aberdeen's premier private club, and today it is regarded as one of the top courses in eastern South Dakota.

About

Moccasin Creek Country Club, established in 1971 and located in Aberdeen, South Dakota, is a respected private club known for its well-conditioned parkland layout. The course was designed to serve as a premier club for the region and offers tree-lined fairways, multiple sets of tees, and strong member programming.

Caddie Tip

Bring your A-game for approach shots—the greens are well-guarded and tend to run true but are moderately quick. Play slightly below the hole, especially on back nine par 4s. Stay out of the thick trees flanking several fairways and remember wind is more of a factor on exposed holes on the front nine.

The Main Challenge

The biggest challenge is keeping your ball in play through the mature trees and managing approach shots into small, quick greens. Several water hazards come into play on the back nine. Wind can be tricky, especially early and late in the season. Course management and precision iron play are strongly rewarded.

The Good

Golfers praise the consistently excellent conditioning and friendly club atmosphere. The layout offers enjoyable variety, a fair but challenging test for all skill levels, and pace of play is reliably good. The dining and bar options in the clubhouse are also considered among the best amenities in the area.

The Not So Good

Some members and guests note that bunkers can be inconsistent in sand depth and texture, and during busy summer weekends, the practice facilities sometimes become crowded. A few players hope for an expanded short game or chipping area, especially for off-peak seasons.
