Course Report

The Monument Course was Troon North’s original layout, established before the Pinnacle course, and is named for the huge boulder on its third hole.

About

Designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish, the Monument Course at Troon North is a standout desert layout in Scottsdale, known for its dramatic granite boulders and High Sonoran vistas. Immersive holes wind through ravines and foothills beneath Pinnacle Peak, offering top-tier conditions and one of Arizona’s most celebrated golf experiences.

Caddie Tip

Desert golf demands precision—keep your tee shots in the fairway and avoid the cactus-lined washes. Approach shots are often better played to the fat side of greens, as bounces can be unpredictable off the firm desert turf. Short game touch is crucial for scoring well.

The Main Challenge

The Monument Course tests accuracy and decision-making with narrow, undulating fairways bordered by desert hazards and strategically placed bunkers. Tough approach shots, swirling winds, and challenging greens mean players face both mental and physical demands throughout the round.

The Good

Golfers rave about the course's scenery and dramatic desert setting, highlighted by massive granite boulders, lush fairways, and panoramic mountain backdrops. The variety and memorability of the holes keep players coming back, making every round at Monument a standout experience.

The Not So Good

Some guests mention high green fees and slow pace of play during peak seasons as areas where the experience could be improved. Others wish for expanded twilight rates and additional on-course amenities to better handle busy days.
