Course Report

In summer, you can play midnight golf at Mosfellsbaer thanks to Iceland’s never-setting sun—tee times are available 24 hours a day during June and July.

About

Mosfellsbaer Golf Club features 18 holes stretching along the edge of Kollafjördur Bay, with undulating terrain, scenic ocean views, and a modern clubhouse. The championship Hlíðavöllur course was designed by Edwin Roald and is known for its generous fairways, lava rock hazards, and large greens. It regularly hosts Icelandic national championships.

Caddie Tip

Watch for the wind, which can dramatically affect shots along the bay, especially on holes 12 through 15. Play conservative approaches to the large greens and carefully gauge distance on downhill approaches, as lava rocks and ocean breezes add unpredictability.

The Main Challenge

The toughest stretch comes on the back nine, where holes play close to the bay amidst shifting winds and deep fescue. Strategic shotmaking is required to avoid rough lava fields and nesting bird colonies. The 14th and 15th holes especially demand precise driving and careful approach shots to undulating greens.

The Good

Golfers love the stunning ocean and mountain views, the variety of holes routed among ancient lava fields, and the tranquil Icelandic setting. The generous fairways and high-quality greens combine to make every round unforgettable, while the opportunity for 24-hour golf in midsummer is especially unique.

The Not So Good

Some players note that wind can make certain rounds unpredictable, and the course can be soggy early or late in the season due to rain. A few golfers would prefer more challenging bunkering and tighter landing areas to further test lower handicaps.

Signature Hole:

#

14

The 14th hole is a challenging par 4 playing near the bay’s edge with panoramic views of Esja mountain. It requires a precise tee shot to avoid the nesting Arctic Terns in summer and a bold approach to the undulating green, set against striking lava rocks and water vistas.

Clubhouse

No items found.

The modern clubhouse offers local Icelandic cuisine, panoramic bay views, spacious locker rooms, and a golf shop with apparel and gear. Comfortable seating and floor-to-ceiling windows allow relaxation after your round, and the friendly staff regularly assists visitors from all over the world.
