Course Report

The resort features not only a top-ranked golf course but also a full year-round destination, including a hotel, ice rink, and pools.

About

Old Kinderhook Golf Resort, designed by Tom Weiskopf, winds through the scenic Ozark hills in Missouri. This 18-hole, par 71 course features dramatic elevation changes, meandering creeks, rock waterfalls, and flowering trees. Known for its stunning visuals and playability, it consistently ranks among the Midwest's finest and offers an exceptional round for golfers of all levels.

Caddie Tip

Club selection is vital due to significant elevation changes throughout the course. Stay below the hole on approach shots to avoid tricky putts on the large, fast bentgrass greens, and pay extra attention to wind direction, especially on exposed holes along ridge tops.

The Main Challenge

The layout’s greatest challenge lies in its dramatic elevation changes, numerous water hazards, strategic bunkering, and the need for precision off the tee. Greens are large and quick, with subtle breaks, rewarding thoughtful approach play. The risk/reward holes, especially late in the round, make for an exciting finish.

The Good

Golfers love the picturesque setting with its dramatic hills, waterfalls, lakes, and mature trees. The topography creates memorable, varied holes and spectacular views from many tees and greens. Old Kinderhook is also praised for its friendly staff, well-maintained grounds, and a sense of seclusion from the surrounding area, making it a true destination.

The Not So Good

Some golfers have noted occasional slow play during busy seasons. While conditions are usually excellent, wet weather can sometimes affect the turf, and drainage in a few low-lying fairways can be an issue after heavy rain. The resort could also enhance on-course food and beverage service for an even better experience.
