Course Report

Oslo Golf Club is Norway’s oldest golf course and has hosted both the European Girls and Boys Team Championships. Its 'Amen Corner,' holes 12-14, offers some of the country’s best golf scenery.

About

Opened in 1924, Oslo Golf Club (Bogstad) is Norway’s oldest golf club, set along scenic Bogstad Lake near Oslo. The par 72, 6300-meter championship track features a thoughtful parkland design, several long par 3s, and hazardous water on multiple holes. The course was redesigned in 2008 and is known for beautiful conditioning. It’s hosted numerous major tournaments and national championships.

Caddie Tip

Watch for significant elevation changes, especially on the hilly opening holes. When playing the 12th, factor in swirling breezes off the lake. On the reachable back-nine par 4s, playing conservatively to safer landing areas is often a smarter strategy for visitors unfamiliar with local contours.

The Main Challenge

Navigating the initial hilly terrain can be physically taxing, and water hazards come into play frequently. Holes 12–14 create a make-or-break stretch where precise iron play and good decision-making are crucial. The course’s length and heavy rough further challenge strong players.

The Good

Golfers rave about the gorgeous setting along Bogstad Lake and the club’s immaculate greens, which received extensive upgrades in recent years. The sense of tradition, dramatic scenery, and several memorable holes—especially on the back nine—make for a highly enjoyable, world-class golf experience.

The Not So Good

Some golfers point out that the opening holes can be particularly hilly, making them demanding for those walking. Additionally, practice facilities are somewhat limited compared to other top European courses, and access for non-members is fairly restricted.

Signature Hole:

#

12

No items found.

The 12th hole is a memorable par 3 featuring a breathtaking view of a waterfall right next to the green. The hole demands precise club selection and control, with water and undulating contours posing challenges for any golfer aiming for a safe landing and a par score.

Clubhouse

No items found.

The modern clubhouse features a pro shop, clean locker rooms, and a restaurant with lake and course views. The dining area serves local favorites, and the welcoming lounge provides a relaxing spot for post-round drinks.

Practice Facilities

No items found.

Oslo Golf Club offers a driving range, short game area, and putting green. Facilities are well-maintained, though on the smaller side. Players can warm up or practice essentials before the round, but the scope is not as extensive as major international venues.
