Course Report
Ozarks National features a 400-foot-long wooden bridge towering 60 feet above a creek—one of the most striking course features in Missouri.
About
Ozarks National Golf Course, designed by legendary architects Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, offers an 18-hole, par-71 layout set atop the scenic Missouri Ozarks. The course is renowned for its dramatic views, natural terrain, and challenging design, featuring rapid elevation changes, pristine bentgrass greens, and zoysia fairways. It highlights native habitats and a signature 400-foot wooden bridge, offering a true world-class golf experience.
Caddie Tip
Play conservatively off the tee on holes with native grass carries, as wayward shots are often punished by tall fescue and steep slopes. Use the ample landing zones and avoid being greedy on approach shots; the greens are fast, true, and often contoured, so focus on placing your approach below the hole.
The Main Challenge
The greatest challenge at Ozarks National is controlling your ball flight in the often windy, elevated terrain. Errant tee shots risk landing in deep native grass or over steep drop-offs. Fast bentgrass greens demand precise putting, and strategic bunkering increases the difficulty of approach shots, especially with dramatic elevation changes.
The Good
Golfers love the breathtaking views from elevated tees and greens, especially the panoramic Ozark Mountain vistas. The routing by Coore & Crenshaw maximizes natural undulations, making each hole feel distinct and visually engaging. Many praise the immaculate conditioning and the thrill of tackling a world-class layout set in a spectacular environment.
The Not So Good
Golfers sometimes comment that the course can be overly punishing for higher handicaps, especially off the tee, with native fescue areas quickly swallowing errant shots. Play can also be slow during busy weekend mornings, and the remote location means limited options for non-golf amenities immediately onsite at the clubhouse itself.
Signature Hole:
#
13
Hole 13 is a par 4 renowned for its iconic 400-foot wooden beam and plank bridge that soars 60 feet above a rushing creek. This scenic hole tests accuracy off the tee, as players must negotiate a picturesque yet challenging landscape. The combination of breathtaking elevation and natural surroundings make it a memorable highlight for golfers at Ozarks National.
Clubhouse
The clubhouse, while modest in size, offers full-service golf amenities—lockers, bar, dining options, a pro shop, and access to Big Cedar Lodge’s nearby larger resort facilities and restaurants. Golfers also enjoy convenient access to other renowned courses and on-site event spaces, making it a versatile base for tournaments and group outings.
Practice Facilities
Players have access to expansive practice areas, including a full driving range, putting green, and short game zones. Rental clubs and GPS carts are available. Practice facilities are well maintained and accommodate both warm-up and focused golf training.
