Course Report

Park Mammoth was known locally as Cave Valley Golf Club and has recently undergone a transformation, drawing widespread positive attention from Kentucky golf enthusiasts.

About

Park Mammoth Golf Club, originally opened in 1964 and redesigned in recent years, offers a scenic and challenging par-70 layout just over 6,200 yards. This public course weaves through rolling hills with significant elevation changes. Renowned for fast greens and thick Bermuda rough, it attracts golfers of all skill levels and features a modern clubhouse.

Caddie Tip

Keep tee shots in play—even generous fairways have unforgiving Bermuda rough just off the edges, and any shot drifting into native grass is usually lost. Play for position rather than distance on holes with tricky elevation changes, and approach firm greens conservatively to avoid run-offs.

The Main Challenge

The greatest challenge comes from the sharply contoured greens and thick Bermuda rough bordering each hole. Golfers must carefully navigate elevation changes that can turn a well-struck shot into trouble if misjudged. Second shots require precision to avoid roll-offs and tricky up-and-downs.

The Good

Golfers rave about the impressive elevation changes and the consistently quick, undulating greens that keep every round interesting. The modern, spacious clubhouse and friendly staff make the experience welcoming. Players especially appreciate the scenic, natural Kentucky landscape that shapes many memorable holes.

The Not So Good

Some guests note that the rough can be overly punitive, especially off the fairways, causing slower play and lost balls. Greater contrast in width between fairways and rough, or more trimming along the native grass edges, would improve playability and pace.

Signature Hole:

#

18

No items found.

The 18th, a demanding par 4, caps the round with a tee shot framed by native grasses and a second shot to a well-protected, sloping green. Flanked by dramatic elevation changes, the approach tests both distance control and accuracy to avoid penal rough, creating a memorable finish to the round.

Clubhouse

No items found.

The newly built clubhouse offers a well-stocked pro shop and a bar and grille serving a selection of drinks and food. Guests find plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and attractive locker rooms. The friendly staff and clean modern spaces enhance the post-round experience.

Practice Facilities

No items found.

Park Mammoth features a full driving range and a large practice putting green. Instruction is available from a teaching professional. Range balls are modern, and the area is adjacent to the main parking lot for easy access. Short game facilities are basic but sufficient for warm-up.
