Course Report

Silverleaf Club derives its name from a historic mining claim on the property dating back to the late 19th century.

About

Silverleaf Club, designed by Tom Weiskopf and opened in 2002, is a private, luxury golf course nestled in the McDowell Mountain foothills of Scottsdale, Arizona. The course features 18 holes that wind through natural desert contours, providing both challenge and scenic views, and serves as the centerpiece of an upscale residential community.

Caddie Tip

Silverleaf rewards strategic play off the tee. Focus on controlling distance and trajectory—elevated tees and undulating fairways can add or subtract substantial yardage. Be especially mindful of subtle green contours and shifting pin positions, which change daily and can easily turn a birdie putt into a three-putt.

The Main Challenge

Silverleaf’s greatest challenge is its demanding green complexes with subtle but severe slopes and daily changing pin locations. The combination of elevation changes, well-placed hazards, and forced carries off the tee require skillful shot-making throughout, culminating in a dramatic and challenging closing stretch.

The Good

Golfers consistently rave about the stunning mountain views and natural desert integration. Each hole feels secluded, with strategic design elements by Tom Weiskopf that blend elevation, native flora, and wide, flowing fairways. The course condition and private, exclusive atmosphere add to a truly memorable golfing experience.

The Not So Good

While Silverleaf’s exclusivity and pristine conditions are praised, some wish for a slightly more forgiving rough and a bit less penal contouring near the greens, which can be unforgiving for higher handicappers. Access for non-members is extremely limited, leaving many local enthusiasts longing for more opportunities to play.
