Course Report

Silvertip was named after a rare grizzly bear species and is the only major resort course on the south side of the Canadian Rockies, giving it more sunshine and epic panoramic mountain views.

About

Silvertip Resort Golf Course, designed by Les Furber, is an acclaimed mountain course carved into the Canadian Rockies. Spanning dramatic elevation changes over 600 feet and stretching to 7,140 yards, the par-72 layout offers awe-inspiring views and significant challenges. Situated at the edge of wilderness, its dramatic setting and championship-caliber routing provide an exhilarating test for golfers of all skill levels.

Caddie Tip

Due to steep elevation changes, choose your club wisely—shots can travel further than expected, especially on holes playing downhill. On approach shots, favor the center of greens to avoid difficult up-and-downs from over bunkered surrounds, especially around the greens on the finishing holes.

The Main Challenge

The toughest challenge is managing the drastic elevation changes throughout the round. Many holes require precise club selection, especially when facing uphill or downhill lies, and the par-4s on the back nine can play very long into the wind with sloping fairways and deep bunkers framing the greens.

The Good

Golfers rave about the breathtaking scenery from virtually every hole, with dramatic elevation changes and sweeping Rocky Mountain views. The uniqueness of playing high above the Bow Valley, combined with well-contoured greens and top-class facilities, creates an unforgettable mountain golf experience for visitors from around the world.

The Not So Good

Frequent feedback notes that the demanding layout—lots of blind shots, forced carries, and elevation shifts—can challenge less-experienced players and slow down pace of play. Some mention that rough can be especially penal and bunkers inconsistent after inclement weather.
