St George's Hill Golf Club is a private, historic course in Weybridge, Surrey, renowned for its stunning heathland layout and distinctive clubhouse. Designed by Harry Colt in 1913, the Red and Blue nines form the main championship 18, featuring dramatic elevation changes and strategic bunkering that showcase Colt’s architectural legacy.
Caddie Tip
Play conservatively off the tees—Heather and Scots pine await errant drives, especially on the front nine. Course strategy favors positioning over distance. On the signature 8th, aim for the left half of the fairway; overcooking the drive risks a blocked approach and tough recovery. Study green contours closely, as subtle slopes impact putts on many holes.
The Main Challenge
The toughest aspect is negotiating heather-lined fairways, punishing rough, and dramatic elevation changes while maintaining accuracy off the tee. Strategic bunkers—especially those designed by Colt—require careful placement and thoughtful approaches. Narrow greens, especially on the Green nine, challenge even skilled players with subtle undulations and deceptive slopes.
