Course Report

Terravista’s signature 14th hole is so famous that it is often used in promotional imagery for Brazilian golf, known for its dramatic clifftop visuals and frequent sightings of giant sea turtles from the tee.

About

Terravista Golf Course, designed by Dan Blankenship and opened in 2004, is widely considered one of Latin America’s most glamorous golf destinations. Set atop dramatic cliffs above the Atlantic, the course offers diverse holes through woodland and along the coast. Its world-renowned, challenging layout, excellent amenities, and stunning vistas make it a must-play for international golfers visiting Brazil.

Caddie Tip

The wind along the clifftop holes, especially from 12–15, can shift suddenly—check sea breezes before approach shots. Fairways are generous, but greens tend to be firm and well-guarded, so plan for extra roll-out. On the signature 14th, favor the left side if unsure, as missing right brings the Atlantic fully into play.

The Main Challenge

The back-nine’s clifftop holes, especially 12 through 15, demand accuracy and nerve due to swirling winds and ocean drop-offs. The 14th par 3 tests both club selection and mental fortitude—there’s no bailout short right, and the wind can dramatically increase the challenge.

The Good

Golfers laud the spectacular ocean views—especially on the clifftop holes—together with memorable routing that offers strategic play and natural beauty. The combination of a welcoming Brazilian atmosphere, modern facilities, and unique seaside environment make rounds at Terravista genuinely special and frequently cited as a Brazilian golf highlight.

The Not So Good

Some golfers report that transitioning from woodland to clifftop holes disrupts the course’s flow, and off-peak conditioning can vary with seasonal weather. Walkability is limited due to long distances between greens and tees, so being reliant on carts is sometimes viewed as a detraction.
