Course Report

Le Château Course hosts the French Riviera Masters, the only Senior European Tour event in France, every September.

About

Terre Blanche’s Château Course, designed by Dave Thomas, is one of the most acclaimed courses in France and the heart of a five-star golf and spa resort. Opened in 2000, the layout features undulating fairways, large greens, striking water hazards, and panoramic views of Provence. Meticulously maintained, the course challenges players of all abilities while rewarding precision and strategic play.

Caddie Tip

Course management is everything here. Pay close attention to the direction and strength of the wind, especially on the elevated holes. Many fairways look inviting, but hidden hazards and large water features require careful club selection and precise shot placement.

The Main Challenge

The main challenge at Château is found in its strategic water hazards, undulating terrain, and the necessity for precise approach shots. The course doesn’t overpower with length from the middle tees but demands constant attention to placement, especially on risk-reward holes where poor club selection can quickly lead to big numbers.

The Good

Golfers rave about the Château’s immaculate conditioning and varied design, with challenging yet fair holes framed by the natural beauty of Provence. Elevated tees and vast fairways offer dramatic vistas, and the resort atmosphere completes a relaxing and luxurious experience. The water hazards are both beautiful and strategic, enhancing play and scenery.

The Not So Good

Some visitors mention that the price is quite high, especially for single rounds, which may limit repeat play for non-resort guests. Others wish for more character in the clubhouse facilities, which, while functional, could use more regional charm to match the course’s spectacular outdoor ambiance.
