Course Report

Greg Norman considered The Bluffs Ho Tram Strip one of only two pieces of land of such natural quality he’s ever worked with, the other being Doonbeg in Ireland.

About

The Bluffs Ho Tram Strip is an award-winning 18-hole links course designed by Greg Norman, routed over natural coastal dunes overlooking the South China Sea. The championship layout is renowned for its dramatic elevation changes, ever-present sea breezes, and spectacular vistas. Located near Vietnam's premier casino resort, it offers a true links experience comparable to the world’s best.

Caddie Tip

Wind is always a major factor here. Trust your caddie for club selection—especially on elevated tees and the signature 4th, where swirling gusts can change shots dramatically. Take enough club on uphill approaches, and play approaches to run up where the contours allow. Expect deceptive putts due to the undulating greens.

The Main Challenge

The main challenge at The Bluffs is exposure to strong, shifting coastal winds—every shot requires constant adjustment. Many holes demand precision off the tee to avoid deep dunes, with bold greenside contouring punishing errant approaches. Strategic bunkering and fast, undulating greens test the nerves and skill of golfers at any level.

The Good

Golfers love the dramatic coastal setting, the outstanding natural dunes, and the wonderful variety of holes that use every advantage of the windswept terrain. The combination of ocean views on most holes and the world-class routing make this one of Asia’s most memorable and photogenic courses.

The Not So Good

Some players note that the wind can make the course extremely difficult, especially for higher handicappers. Occasional pace-of-play issues occur during busy resort periods, and humidity in summer can amplify course toughness. Greens can become firm and challenging to hold at times.
