Course Report

The Peninsula was Delaware's first private Jack Nicklaus Signature course and features a unique wave lagoon pool in its amenity package.

About

The Peninsula Golf & Country Club in Millsboro, Delaware, is a private, Jack Nicklaus Signature design—the first by Nicklaus in Delaware—set on 800 acres along Indian River Bay. Seven holes border the bay and Lingo Creek, offering dramatic Lowcountry vistas. As part of an upscale resort community, the course is renowned for its aesthetics, strategic challenge, and exceptional Troon-managed amenities.

Caddie Tip

Stay below the hole on the fast, undulating greens, and play conservatively on holes bordering the bay, where wind and water come into play. Approach shots are frequently challenged by strategic bunkering and elevated greens, so club selection and patience are rewarded.

The Main Challenge

The most challenging aspect is the constantly changing wind off the bay, which impacts at least seven holes with forced carries and tight landing areas. Fast, undulating greens and well-placed bunkers further demand precise shotmaking and smart course management.

The Good

Golfers consistently praise the overall course design, blending natural beauty with challenging play. The waterside holes provide inspiring views and a sense of seclusion, while the conditioning and attention to detail rank among the best in the region. The high-end practice and clubhouse amenities elevate the Troon golf experience.

The Not So Good

Guests and residents suggest that the course can play especially tough on windy days, and pace of play has occasionally been a concern during busy member events. As a private community, access is exclusive, which can limit broader exposure and outside play opportunities.
