Course Report

The club is surrounded by 1,800 acres of nature preserve, providing a rare blend of championship golf and wildlife habitat.

About

The Preserve Golf Club, designed by U.S. Open champion Jerry Pate, is an 18-hole, par 71 public course laid over 245 acres in Mississippi's pine savannah. The course is known for exceptional conditioning, natural wetlands, strategic bunkering, and native scenery, offering a challenging yet enjoyable layout for golfers of all skill levels.

Caddie Tip

Accuracy off the tee is at a premium, but thoughtful approach shots are crucial due to the large, undulating greens. Pay close attention to flag locations and don't miss long on the par-3 16th—landing on the wrong tier can easily lead to a three-putt or worse.

The Main Challenge

The varying terrain and water hazards on both nines present strategic challenges, particularly off the tee and into greens that are large and often tiered. The 16th hole's large sloping green requires precise iron play, while the course overall demands accuracy and decision-making at every turn.

The Good

Golfers praise the course's natural setting, with its mix of cypress swamps, native grasses, and tranquil pine savannahs providing a sense of seclusion. The immaculate condition of the fairways and greens, attentive service, and club amenities make for a top-tier public golf experience.

The Not So Good

Some visitors mention that the rough can be punishing, and during wet weather the course drainage can cause minor delays. Golfers also wish the driving range was open longer in the evenings during peak seasons.
