Course Report
The 13th hole at TPC Colorado set the record for the longest hole ever used in a PGA Tour-sanctioned competition, reaching 773 yards during the Korn Ferry Tour event.
About
TPC Colorado is an 18-hole championship course in Berthoud, designed by Arthur Schaupeter. It offers a Scottish-style links experience, pot bunkers, and panoramic Rocky Mountain views along the shores of three reservoirs. Opened in 2019, it hosts the Korn Ferry Tour's The Ascendant presented by Blue and caters to both professionals and daily-fee players.
Caddie Tip
Lean on smart strategy over brute force—many holes reward precision, with pot bunkers and reservoirs penalizing wayward shots. Pay special attention to wind direction, which can shift quickly at this elevation, and play for the proper angles into large, undulating greens to give yourself realistic birdie chances.
The Main Challenge
The greatest challenge comes from the course's length, elevation changes, deep revetted pot bunkers, and strategic use of water hazards. Wind is often a factor, and several holes provide true risk-reward decisions, requiring precise shotmaking to avoid high scores. The Scottish links-inspired setup punishes errant drives and rewards bold play.
The Good
Golfers rave about the panoramic Rocky Mountain views and the creative links-inspired layout. The variety of hole lengths, dramatic elevation changes, and strategic bunkering provide a memorable, professional-level challenge that feels both fair and exciting. The architecture and setting make every round visually stunning and distinctive.
The Not So Good
Players sometimes comment on tough walks between some greens and tees, especially at altitude, and on the course’s penal rough. Occasional wind can also lengthen rounds and add to the challenge. Some also wish for more accessible tee times given high demand and limited public slots.
